and everything that’s new has bravely surfaced, teaching us to breathe

“Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” (John 20:29)

It takes a lot of faith to believe having not seen. Some days when I think on the promises God has spoken over me and over my life, I honestly wonder how much longer I can have faith in them when it seems like they just aren’t going to happen. It was easy to believe them at first, when they were fresh and first spoken. But after years of seeing no signs of their fulfillment it is HARD to keep walking by faith.

But God is gracious, and He is full of compassion. Sometimes He knows that I can’t hang on anymore without a sign of spring. So He is faithful and has let me have many glimpses of what is to come. These little signs of His faithfulness have been much of what has kept me going, although it is His Presence that is truly my anchor. His closeness and nearness to me are my life and breath. Him holding my hand is what keeps me going.

One step at a time, one day at a time. Just like always. Can I trust Him until the sun goes down today? Tomorrow will worry about itself. When tomorrow gets here, I can trust Him then. But for now all He asks is that I trust Him for today.

Someday is not so far away and the promises are a lot closer than we think. God loves surprises and when we least expect it, we are caught up right into the middle of His promises. With one word from His mouth things can change. In one hour things can change. Before we know it, we are seeing the fruit of our tears and prayers, and tasting the goodness of His promises fulfilled. We are partaking of the sweetness of a desire satisfied. God is a God of SUDDENLIES.

Until then, He will give us signs of spring. He will show us little signs that He is working and moving behind the scenes. He will give us little glimpses of how far we’ve come and how close we are to the promises. He is forever faithful.
